Job Summary: The Printing Production Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of University Printing Services. Communicates with customers regarding print requests and other various printing needs daily. Develops time management methods to optimize product output efficiency. Provides training, guidance, and supervises staff.
Additional Department Summary: This position shall serve as the assistant and back-up to the Assistant Director. It will have substantial continuing production responsibilities and will assist the Assistant Director with day-to-day supervision of production related activities at University Printing Services. The Assistant Director for Production coordinates job scheduling, tracking, materials inventory and routine work flow in the Graphic Design Studio, Pre-press, Pressroom Operations, Bindery Operations, Warehouse Operations and Logistics. This position will have a direct impact of the success of that part of UPS' operations that produces approximately $4.5 million in annual revenue.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of printing/bindery production experience to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge: The Production Supervisor will have secondary responsibility to assign, coordinate and direct production operations to meet or exceed the customers' schedule and quality expectations. This key person must maintain a positive rapport with the management and subordinate staff. While participating directly in production activities, he/she must also be able to direct subordinate employees' activities, maintain their respect and be adaptable to ever changing conditions based on customer demands, employee needs, equipment and material problems and other often unpredictable influences. Creativity, energy and good judgement are required to ensure quality goods, delivered on time in such an environment. This position will require this candidate to be creative, resourceful, and have sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with functions, capabilities and capacities of various equipment commonly found in a print shop, including, digital presses, envelope presses, offset presses, folders, cutters, joggers, drills, perfect binders, coil binders, booklet makers, hole punches, bulk mailing equipment, etc. Familiarity with papers and substrates commonly used in print shops.
