Summary
The Process Engineer reports directly to the Operations Manager and supports the Ceramic business. In this role, the Process Engineer makes technical decisions related to ceramic machining and provides technical direction to their team.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Lead and direct the monitoring and troubleshooting of manufacturing processes to maintain and improve upon product yield and quality. Use an array of tools (DOE, DMAIC) and general statistical analysis methods to drive improvements.
  • Makes recommendations, plans, and implements lean processes and products that result in improved manufacturing capabilities, efficiencies, yield, and quality.
  • Provides recommendations for maintaining, diagnosing equipment inefficiencies, and upgrades to existing equipment or acquisition of new equipment as needed.
  • Works closely with new product introduction team to efficiently and cost effectively introduce new products into manufacturing.
  • Creates travelers for new parts as well as BOMS and Routings in ERP system.
  • Provides technical development support to technicians, engineers, and operators.
  • Periodically reports progress and status on projects and processes to management in an oral and written manner.
  • Uses technical knowledge and ingenuity to resolve complex problems and provides technical leadership for their area of responsibility.
  • Other related duties as directed by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing is required.
  • Ability to analyze and identify problems, develop appropriate solutions, and implement with available resources to complete complex assignments.
  • Ability to proactively develop new ideas/methodologies for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interact with other professional staff throughout the organization.
Education and Experience:
  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Chemical Engineering or Associate Degree with relevant experience is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in processing equipment in a metallic or ceramic machining manufacturing environment is required.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methods is a plus.
Physical Working Conditions:
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and occasional use of chemicals.
  • Extended periods of standing combined with sitting and walking.
  • Be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
