Summary

This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving processes directly related to the melting and manufacturing process.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Works safely. Adheres to all company and regulatory EH&S and 6S policies and procedures and helps ensure all employees are working in a safe manner. Looks for potential safety issues and offers safety suggestions.
  • Conducts studies, analyzes data, evaluates operations, and provides recommendations for improving utilization of equipment, personnel, materials, and utilities.
  • Plays an active role in cost reduction, interference management and labor productivity improvement efforts.
  • Develops and establishes best manufacturing practices, standards, processes, procedures and assures their effective implementation and on-going review.
  • Evaluates equipment, operational sequences, and material flows to determine employee job functions and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Leads activities to improve data collection methods and updating of standards to accurately model workload capacities.
  • Works with and evaluates outside suppliers, service providers, vendors, equipment manufacturers, as needed to support projects and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assists in maintaining and developing state of the art manufacturing technology to support the company's strategic objectives.
  • Prepares reports, writes procedures and manufacturing work instructions, makes presentations to communicate information, and provides operator training as required.
  • Manages assigned projects assuring timely completion in accordance with established parameters.
  • Works with all levels of the organization as technical support to assist in various assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related degree required.

• 2-5 years' experience manufacturing engineering experience.

• Background/knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, motor drives, etc.) required.

• Highly competent in Microsoft and other computer applications for information and data management, basic understanding of PLC programming.

• Ability to read and design blueprints, single line diagrams and other technical specifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, or sit; regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The typical work environment is a standard office setting / office contained in a foundry or manufacturing setting. The employee is occasionally required to perform work in a foundry environment with occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts / work in high temperatures / risk of electrical shock; the typical noise level is moderate noise.
