BACKGROUND GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Under the general direction of the Director of Quality, the Program Manager will provide project management, process improvement, and team facilitation support to hospital quality improvement initiatives in support of MGB quality strategy. The position requires superior skills in project management, analytics, and communication.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIRED SKILLS

This role will maintain sound organizational relationship and work well within a matrixed health care organization. This role will support the execution of long and short-term goals for the MGB quality program. Because this is a position in an active change management environment, this team member will need to demonstrate flexibility and open-mindedness as the contours of this position will actively evolve over time.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Execute and track site-level performance improvement activity aimed to drive MGB quality strategy, adhering to MGB standardized processes around quality measurement, strategy, prioritized areas, and performance improvement.

• Collaborate with quality stakeholders, executives, and clinical leaders to develop and implement quality improvement strategies, ensuring the success of the hospital quality program. Work with MGB data and analytics team as needed for reporting and performance insights, including external regulatory requirements and programs such as CMS, TJC, Leapfrog, and Vizient.

• Provides superior team facilitation and project management support to performance and process improvement teams throughout the project life cycle (i.e., from project selection and scoping through implementation of a plan to monitor and sustain associated improvements).

• Maintain current expertise and effectively applies a variety of rigorous performance/ process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Model for Improvement, PDSA) and tools such as process mapping, root cause analysis, FMEA, and statistical process control.

• Develop detailed project plans that are practical and of appropriate scope, and includes identification of stakeholders, assessment of resource needs, and implementation timelines.

• Oversee project logistics and communication (e.g., meeting agendas, action logs, slide decks) to ensure activities are tracked and are consistent with plans.

• Maintain well-organized project documentation.

• Establish the measurement approach and analytic strategies for assigned projects, including identification of key metrics, data sources and data collection plans, working collaboratively with MGB data and analytics team as needed.

• Analyze clinical and administrative data to evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities, with well-structured and polished materials to support data-driven decision-making and effective communication regarding hospital quality performance.

• Maintain strong and productive relationships with assigned key stakeholders and customers (Department Quality Chairs, Unit Leadership, Infection Control, Patient Safety, etc.).

• Communicate regularly with executive sponsors, process owners and other stakeholders, regarding progress toward goal achievement and any critical factors or obstacles.

• Support local training and education programs as needed.

• Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan and The Joint Commission (TJC) Performance Improvement Chapter with organized supporting documentation as assigned.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Business, Health Policy, Public Health, or related degree preferred.

• 2+ years of experience of progressively responsible work history, preferably in a healthcare management, finance, consulting, or strategic planning.

• Prior project management experience in a complex multi-faceted organization working with senior leaders required.

• Process improvements skills and/or training experience is a plus.

Superior organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, ability to present data to a wide varied audiences in a clear, concise, and meaningful manner.

• Must be a team player and work well with a variety of people in all levels of the organization.

• Ability to foster trust and collaboration with strong influencing and relationship-building skills.

• Results-oriented with a strong attention to detail.

• Experience successfully working with clinical, operational, financial, and other healthcare data, with strong statistical aptitude strongly desired.

• Superior skill and experience in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint); adept at learning new software applications.

• Other experience desired: Epic EHR system; Vizient; QI Macros; Tableau.

Special Requirements

• Must be able to work in the case of a hospital declared emergency.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position will be remote/hybrid (working up to one day per week on hospital campus). The candidate must be flexible and consider business needs as onsite work could fluctuate.
