Process Safety Engineer
Corpus Christi, Texas
Employer: Koch Industries
Industry: Engineering
Salary: Competitive
Job type: Full-Time
Your Job
Koch Capabilities supports many facets of other Koch companies, primarily Flint Hills Resources "FHR" (refineries, pipelines, and terminals) and Koch Ag & Energy Services "KAES" (ammonia plants and terminals). We are currently seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join our team to support the pipelines and terminal assets and operations for both FHR and KAES. As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be directly responsible for day-to-day support and oversight of Process Safety programs within the two organizations.
Koch Capabilities is a different kind of company, we are privately owned and our compensation philosophy is based on the value you create. Come realize your full potential and join our team.
What You Will Do
You will partner with key operations, maintenance, and technical support groups to achieve the shared vision for Operational Process Safety through the application of Process Safety standards and industry best practices, management system ownership, and routine interaction and auditing. This role supports multiple day-to-day pipeline and terminal operations throughout the Midwest for Flint Hills Resources (FHR) and Koch Ag and Energy Services (KAES). You could lead risk assessment activities (e.g., PHAs), investigations/learning events, participate in compliance audits, oversee and utilize software systems, and will have ownership over certain Process Safety programs. This role may include aspects of Process Engineering as well. This role has the flexibility to expand as the needs of the organization and the career development of the engineer evolve over time. You should have established communication skills to promote interfacing with a wide variety of personnel (operations, technical, corporate) and external entities. This role is located at any of the "major" hubs for KAES or FHR asset base with Rosemount , MN; Wichita, KS; or Corpus Christi, TX being a strong preference. Travel expectation should be 20-50% of the time.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
• Engineering Degree, Process Safety Engineering, or relevant industry work experience
• Effectively facilitate discussions around complex processes and programs
• Proactively seek gaps/risks and present opportunities to a variety of stakeholders
What Will Put You Ahead
• 3+ years' work experience within a petrochemical plant, refinery, pipeline, or terminal (or comparable) manufacturing environment.
• BS Degree in Chemical Engineering
• Practical/applied experience in Process Safety Engineering or related Operational Support
• Certified PHA and/or Investigation Facilitator
• Experience working in a management program including implementing standards/procedures/training
• Experience providing remote technical support to multiple sites across a broad region.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling, pressure relief device sizing, and/or engineering reviews of project scopes (Management of Change).
At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs. This means we openly challenge the status quo, find new ways to create value and get rewarded for our individual contributions. Any compensation range provided for a role is an estimate determined by available market data. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. If you have questions, please speak to your recruiter about the flexibility and detail of our compensation philosophy.
