A Snapshot of Your Day:

Integrates procurement management process and project teams at an early involvement during sales phase. Organizes procurement activities in a project under optimum deployment of resources. Implements procurement strategies, optimizing project results, including availability of goods and services in quality, in time, in budget. Sources, evaluates, and engages with suppliers including traveling to their facilities as needed. Ensures observance of obligatory Procurement processes and regulations.

How You'll Make an Impact:
  • As a member of a regional procurement team providing Project Procurement Management (PPM) support for demands within the Siemens Energy Service Controls & Digitalization organization and in North America.
  • Actively lead business projects with all sourcing requirements end-to-end (from project kick-off to delivery/installation) as the assigned PPM.
  • Sourcing Suppliers, evaluating them as well as closely reviewing their quality and processes. This will require traveling to suppliers' facility and reviewing their manufacturing processes (20-30% travel may be required).
  • Establish sourcing processes, control all Procurement activities in the project and inform all involved within team to deliver optimum impact for the business (Procurement plan, target-costing) relating to budget, availability, delivery requirements, timeline and quality.
  • Analyze scope of supply, contractual obligations and exactly understand customer's functional needs. Identify procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, claims and market forces during the entire project, together with Project Management, Commercial team, Global Commodity Management, etc. to avoid potential damage / exploit potential.
  • Bid preparation / Contribution to increased hit rate Support project calculation with reliable and up-to-date cost data based on Total Cost of Ownership (ToCO) (rock-bottom price information where available). Include (supplier) innovations (e.g. through concept competitions) that improve Siemens' cost position and/or the customer's benefit.
  • Derive Procurement strategy for assigned projects in accordance with organization's Procurement strategies and ensure implementation (pooling or utilization of master contracts). Introduce negotiation recommendations together with Commodity Management to prepare for negotiations with suppliers (back-to-back where appropriate) and to initiate appropriate measures. Act as a commodity manager for specific commodities within the region.
  • Lead contractual and price negotiations and/or support assigned buyers responsible for particular material fields to secure project targets with optimum conditions. Act as a lead buyer on specific and more complex purchasing demands.
  • Ensure that major Procurement risks, changes to original scope of supply and potential claims (towards customers and suppliers) are covered in valid contracts. Ensure that contractual obligations (towards the customer that must be fulfilled by supplier) are covered in a way that mitigates the own risk exposure.
  • Proactively ensure status visibility about availability of materials, parts and resources and early alerting in case of deviations. Clarify internal indicators for project controlling and compiling all relevant information to submit qualified reports (e.g. for the project team, Procurement management team).
  • Be proactive and forward systematically all relevant Procurement related project information (e.g. updated contractual conditions, Supplier Management data) to keep all project participants and relevant cross-functional partners up to date. Share standard methodology and conduct lessons learn sessions. Sensitize cross-functional partners for Procurement related practices processes and metrics.
  • Define and implement projects that enable achievement of key performance indicators (CNI, Payment Terms, CTG, GVS, e-Rfx/auctions, etc.).
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or high school diploma with direct experience required!
  • 5+ years of experience within the energy industry including 4-6 years supply chain management experience!
  • Demonstrated track record as a transformative leader, collaborator, and change agent capable of getting results.
  • Cross-functional and cross departmental communication, collaboration, and relationship building with individuals from functional departments across the company and with external suppliers!
