Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
Massey Cancer Center is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join the Finance Team. Our employees and applicants come from diverse backgrounds. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes VCU stronger.
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for processing all procurement orders for Massey. This position works cooperatively with the Director, Finance and Business Operations, departmental administrators and Principal Investigators (PIs) in Massey and Schools outside of Massey to process order requests. Monitors MCC Compliance with federal, state and university financial policies and procedures. Responsible for tracking purchases from order through paid and providing updates to stakeholders.

Other job duties include and are not limited to:
- Management of all purchase requests received
- Primary p-card holder for Massey p-card purchases
- Design and implement operational process improvements
- Ensure compliance with university and/or agency regulations and restrictions.
- Knowledge of spending parameters around state, federal, local, and sponsored funding
- Previous experience in procurement and use of RealSource
- Knowledge of different payment options through RealSource and able to discern the best option based on requested purchase
- Understanding of financial management through multiple fund sources from Federal, State, and University.
- Experience with Banner finance.
- Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, and Smartsheet.
- Knowledge of ARMICS and compliance around purchasing from multiple fund sources
- Able to effectively communicate, follow up, and close the loop of communication on orders
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work with minimal supervision, work collaboratively and cooperatively in a complex organization.
- Experience in Excel and/or other financial software programs to provide status reports to faculty and principal investigators.
- Competency in use of computer software programs (Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet and other financial and database software).
- Strong, demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse work group, across all levels of management and staff and within tight deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and an expressed commitment to do so while at VCU
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field is preferred.
- Experience in finance, grants and accounting.
- Experience in analyzing data, interpreting information, providing logical conclusions/projections and anticipating costs/obligations.
