Product Design Engineer Responsibilities


  • Develop systems for VR, AR, or new technology initiatives, from early prototyping through mass-production.

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team for collaboration beyond mechanical engineering.

  • Use mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience designing consumer electronics to contribute to mechanical solutions.

  • Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems, and work through the full product development cycle from concept inception to shipping.

  • Collaborate and manage work with global supply chains and distributed engineering teams.

  • Utilize state of the art technologies and approaches to solve complex mechanical problems while working with cross-functional technical teams.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, and three years of work experience in job offered or in an engineering-related occupation. Requires three years of experience in the following:

  • 1. 3D and 2D CAD (NX, SolidWorks, or Creo)

  • 2. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • 3. Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

  • 4. Design for Assembly (DFA)

  • 5. Designing prototypes, utilizing a variety of manufacturing techniques including 3D printing, CNC machining, and casting

  • 6. Statistical Tolerance Analysis

  • 7. Material properties such as plastics, metals, or adhesives

  • 8. Design for high volume manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, stamping, extruding, or die-casting

  • 9. Design of products requiring cosmetic surface treatments and interfacing with Industrial Design teams

  • 10. Working with complex electromechanical assemblies.
