Production Engineer Responsibilities

• Develop, design, create, modify, and/or test software services to ensure optimal performance and capacity for growth.


• Own back-end data warehouse services, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, and infrastructure components to ensure services run without incident.


• Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the problems in real time in highly complex software systems.


• Serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.


• Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.


• Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.


• Build and support fault management systems to automatically co-relate outage events and mitigate problems quickly.


• Build and maintain services health and metrics dashboards.


• Work with operations teams to reduce the time to repair for devices/servers, thereby optimizing available capacity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field. Position also requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:


• 1. Programming concepts: Python, Data structures, Subprocess and multithreading, API


• 2. Identify key performance metrics related to system performance, and routinely collect information on a Linux system


• 3. TCP/IP network fundamentals: TCP Congestion Control, Content Distribution Network(CDN)


• 4. Web servers, load balancing and databases


• 5. Understanding of Network protocols: DHCP, DNS, SNMP, BGP, MPLS and IPSec


• 6. Python coding on understanding client and server technologies


• 7. Configuration, Troubleshooting of Ethernet and IP network equipment using: Network Automation, NetConf/Yang


• 8. Troubleshoot challenging technical problems typically encountered when operating and administering Linux systems


• 9. Network automation using DevOps (Python & Ansible) and Cloud Automation (AWS)


• 10. Operate a Linux system inside of a network environment to integrate with existing service solutions and/or provide its own such as DHCP, DNS, Routing, Network Address Translation and NTP.

$219,221/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
