Production Support Engineer

Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join one of our largest financial clients in New York City supporting the Markets APS Rates and Intraday Risk & PNL Support Team. On a day-to-day basis, individuals will be intaking service requests from Front Office and Middle Office u directly from the desk. They will be supporting front office facing e-trading, risk and PNL applications as well as operational applications within Sales and Middle Office teams. They will be responsible for the monitoring and alerting of these critical applications, performing application health checks to assure system availability and stability, user querying and production incident handling, triage, and hands-on trouble-shooting of Python and Java based applications. They will resolve any performance issues per criticality, capacity management and production release process management. All of these processes should be properly documented and communicated effectively. Ideally, this person is proactive in their identification and resolution of problem hotspots and has the creativity and high-energy required to effectively coordinate restoration efforts for this high-impact space.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
- 5+ years of experience providing Production/Application support
- Python debugging applications (reading and understanding code)
- ITRS Geneos Enterprise monitoring experience
- SQL experience- query a database - mix off from scratch and a run book
- Business acumen knowledge fixed income area, rates, risks, PNL, trading
- Experience monitoring the performance and health of system applications, ability to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Experience scripting with Shell or Python for automation and scripting tasks (Intermediate level: multi-table joins, grouping results, etc...)
- Strong communication skills, ability to work with internal and 3rd party vendors

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
- Previous Bank of America experience
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics
