Wheaton College seeks a Professor of Practice in Pediatrics Nursing for Fall 2025. The faculty member will report to the Dean of Nursing and be responsible for all instructional and administrative functions. They will be dedicated to maintaining academic excellence in teaching and learning, encompassing theory, laboratory, and clinical instruction. We seek candidates passionate about educating future nurses to care for others meaningfully and practically, aligning with Wheaton College's mission and strategic vision for diverse and inclusive excellence. The faculty member will work closely with colleagues and students in various learning activities, including supervised, self-directed, and technologically mediated learning, and will also monitor and improve the teaching-learning process. The faculty members will also actively contribute to the nursing program and provide professional leadership. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Plan and deliver theoretical instruction, clinical experiences, and laboratory (skill and/or simulation) experiences that align with the nursing education program's philosophy, objectives, and curriculum.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Take part in the governance of the program and college, including contributing to standing, ad-hoc committees, and task forces.
  • Serve as a member of departmental committees.
  • Contribute to developing a written curriculum plan for the Nursing Program.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of academic policies in Nursing.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing the systematic evaluation plan for all components of the nursing program.
  • Teach the number of courses specified in the contract.
  • Evaluate student achievement of nursing competencies.
  • Provide advising to students in the Nursing program.
  • Complete an annual evaluation.
  • Fulfill any other responsibilities determined by the Office of the Provost and the Dean of Nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates for a position on the faculty in the Department of Nursing must meet all the College requirements for appointment. A Nursing faculty member must possess:
  • A current MA RN license in good standing;
  • A minimum of an earned Master's degree in Nursing;
  • A minimum of five years of full-time Pediatrics nursing experience
  • Evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction;
  • Evidence of ongoing and progressive professional development in academic and professional communities appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Doctoral degree in the discipline of Nursing;
  • Teaching experience in Nursing;
  • Ongoing scholarly activity that includes research and publication.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.
