The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR II that will report to the Director of ArtPlay. This position is responsible for overseeing the coordination, administration, and execution of the following PreK-12 Programs: Theatre and Visual Art Summer and break camps, Satellite classes and programs, and ArtPlay's robust theatre program year-round. The position will support other team members with the following PreK-12 activities: Vocabby's World early childhood program, in school and field trip programs as available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads the ArtPlay summer camp and break camp program, responsible for the overall design, logistics, communications, and operations of ArtPlay's Theatre Camp and Visual Arts Summer camp, as well as strategic mini-camps during school holidays and breaks. Coordinates teaching artists and contractors for the execution of camps. Leads the ArtPlay theatre program, including yearlong theatre engagements, classes performances, and theatre experiences and excursions for youth (annual New York City trip). Responsible for the design, operations, communications, and logistics of these programs. Coordinates teaching artists for camps and workshops. Leads ArtPlay's PreK-12 satellite programs in local childcare centers and schools. Co-designs and collaborates with each school partner, manages contracts with the schools and teaching artists, is primary liaison between school leadership and artists in satellite programs.

  • Participates in the interviewing and selection of Teaching Artists and support teams responsible for the execution of AP programs. Creates onboarding and training sessions for contract support for theatre programs, camps, and satellite programs. Coordinates with the Office Manager to ensure administrative duties associated with assigned programs are completed in a timely manner. Maintains accurate data and records of assigned programs. Measures success of programs with feedback from surveys. Maintains and submits proper documentation related to contracts, payments, and PreK-12 grants.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships, both internally, throughout UAB and in the community. Establish, implement, manage, and monitor a budget for PreK-12 programs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


(Hourly Rate: $18.35 - $23.07)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Preferred Skills: working with children, creating educational programming.

Soft skills: personable, comfortable with communicating and working with public. Organized and strong planner. Think outside of the box. Candidates should meet preferred skills.
