Job Summary:

The Program Coordinator, Career Development supports new and ongoing programs, activities, and initiatives designed to provide experiential learning, career exploration and career enhancement opportunities to qualified students and Associates under the direction of the Career Development Program Manager. This role works with internal departments, community providers, and educational institutions to place, monitor and evaluate student success in clinical and non-clinical shadowing, rotational, internship and externship opportunities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of new and existing programs to promote career awareness, exploration, and planning. Communicates, plans, executes, and monitors the success of assigned career development and experiential learning activities for students and Associates.
  • Coordinates the clinical affiliation agreement process at Mary Washington Healthcare. Serves as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders and local/regional schools and universities to arrange student placement for shadowing, rotational, internship and externship experiences.
  • Liaises with clinical leadership and educators to evaluate and confirm student needs, capacity, and appropriate placements.
  • Organizes, structures, and schedules clinical rotations in accordance with established educational standards, organizational needs, and applicable clinical agency guidelines.
  • Conducts new student and faculty orientation and ensures that all compliance requirements are met.
  • Assists the training team with coordination of student training needs to develop and maintain a manageable training calendar/schedule.
  • Monitors student and faculty performance/feedback process to include effectively and efficiently addressing concerns and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Conducts regular touchpoints with educational institutions, students, educators and managers on successes and opportunities of student placements.
  • Connects students with appropriate resources to discuss career openings and opportunities, and partners with recruitment on leveraging students to fill clinical job vacancies upon graduation.
  • Evaluates and reports out on the effectiveness of clinical affiliation programs to key stakeholders. Makes recommendations and implements ongoing improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external educational institutions, community groups and agencies. Identifies and recommends opportunities for new community or agency relationships.
  • Implements and maintains tools and technology to increase engagement with career development programs and resources to include updating and maintaining internal and external websites.
  • Represents the organization at community events and works with community representatives to provide education and outreach activities including at internal and external clinical career fairs, student events and information sessions as needed.
  • Assists with budget tracking and cost management for the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in business, education, healthcare, or another relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience coordinating projects and/or programs in a professional setting involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Experience with managing multiple priorities and activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated computer and software proficiency including at least intermediate level experience with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Prior experience with Workday, Learning Management Systems and/or other workforce technology preferred.
  • Prior experience coordinating career development programs and services for students and employees preferred.
  • Prior experience in teaching or instructing in healthcare to include working with students and/or clinical education preferred.
