Why does the job exist?

The Program Coordinator II / Health Coverage Expansion Coordinator will:
  • Be responsible for implementing health care affordability initiatives under New Mexico's Health Care Affordability Fund (HCAF);
  • Represent a critical part of the law through implementation of the program to provide a coverage option to low-income uninsured individuals and families;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the program.


How does it get done?

The Program Coordinator II / Health Coverage Expansion Coordinator is responsible for:
  • Developing and updating innovative policies related to the Health Care Authority's (HCA) uninsured coverage program by conducting research in collaboration with Health Care Coverage Innovation Division staff;
  • Gathering community and stakeholder input, and working with other agencies;
  • Acting as a liaison between HCA and other state agencies and quasi-governmental entities involved in the implementation of the program;
  • Overseeing and providing quality assurance of critical elements of program implementation, such as the program's eligibility and enrollment process, customer service, data reporting, and other programmatic needs;
  • Coordinating with the Division Director Financial Coordinator, vendors, and project managers to successfully implement programs.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer, laptop, printer, calculator, hole-punch, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard and telephone usage.
