Why does the job exist?

This position will create clear and simple pathways into careers in infrastructure development and clean energy, so that New Mexicans across the state can find good jobs that help our state grow and thrive by expanding participation in pre-apprenticeship in the infrastructure development and clean energy fields by conducting outreach to connect more people to these opportunities.

How does it get done?

Plan, implement and manage the competitive Building, Energizing and Connecting Communities Program activities, deliverables, and outcomes under the SAEF2 grant under established timelines. Manage apprenticeship stakeholder advisory committee by providing input on state policies and programs. Facilitate the delivery of support services for program participants, including working with WIOA staff at NMDWS and the local workforce development boards to ensure consistent intake and management of program participants by ensuring performance outcomes are completed, including tracking and reporting data and conducting apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship program evaluations. Position will also have oversight of funds, including maintaining records and documentation of grant status, activities, and expenditures and will coordinate with NMDWS fiscal staff to ensure alignment of fiscal and administrative functions; and preparing and assisting with fiscal and programmatic audits and reports, as applicable.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate would have strong project management and planning skills; good writing and oral communication (including competence in listening and asking questions); a focus on collaboration within the department and across public, private and nonprofit sectors; knowledge of work-based learning programs, including apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs; enthusiasm for cultivating new and expanded opportunities to effectively prepare adults and youth for careers; knowledge and interest in data and outcomes; strong attention to organization, timelines, and details; and a respect for and understanding of community-based organizations, state and federal government, educational institutions, and various industries.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Substitutions apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving
Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within
six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Office setting. Sitting for long periods of time viewing computer monitor. Repetitive hand movement. Standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs. Use of computer, copier, telephone, printer/copier, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, GotoMeetings Travel may be required to include overnight stays.
