We invite applications for an exciting opportunity in the University of Virginia's Division of Student Affairs. The Division of Student Affairs is guided by a three-pronged mission: to help students build community, pursue wellness, and grow as citizen-leaders. The Division consists of over 200 employees within five units - the Office of the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer, the Office of the University Dean of Students, Student Health and Wellness, the University Career Center, and Housing and Residence Life - all working together, for and alongside students, to create the distinctive student experience for which UVA is known. Care and Support Services (CASS) in Student Health and Wellness provides free inclusive support for all students with unmet needs to increase students' ability to identify, reduce, and navigate barriers to their growth and well-being; CASS does this by providing direct student services and programming, and by creating and expanding support infrastructures. CASS is recruiting a Basic Needs Program Coordinator (BNPC) who will be responsible for the coordinated planning and scheduling of targeted food insecurity and basic needs programming and student support.

Programmatic responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and communicating data; representing Care and Support Services and its basic needs initiatives; providing operational support of the Community Food Pantry, including physical space and budget management; advising undergraduate student leaders of the Community Food Pantry; supervising the graduate assistant for the Community Food Pantry; developing marketing plans and managing projects; maintaining key partnerships related to Community Food Pantry operations; and facilitating and processing emergency aid awards through the Hoo Needs Help emergency aid program.

Student support responsibilities include responding to questions from parents, faculty or staff, and community partners; documenting meetings and referrals in an incident management database; and meeting with students to triage concerns and provide appropriate referrals.
    Required qualifications:
    • Knowledge of food and other basic needs insecurity issues;
    • Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years of relevant experience, or master's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, or other discipline;
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, team members, and community/government agencies;
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
    • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging.
    Preferred qualifications:
    • Experience with operational management of a food pantry or food bank, or similar non-profit organization;
    • Understanding of the University's educational mission, strategic aims, and programs, including student culture and unique student self-governance model.
    • Experience managing a budget or reconciling financial accounts;
    • Experience with program assessment and data-driven decision making;
    • Experience writing grants and/or demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

    Physical Demands:

    Will include some lifting/carrying, some travel with personal vehicle. This job involves extensive use of desktop computers.
