DESCRIPTION

The new Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is dedicated to health and social equity and has over 80 primary salaried faculty, 25 secondary faculty, 200+ personnel, 175 postgraduate students, and 500 undergraduate majors. The School includes activities in the Public Health disciplines of Behavioral Medicine, Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Policy, and Preventive Medicine. The School has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Research Centers of Excellence focused on Wireless and Population Health Systems, Health Promotion and Equity, Women's Health, Tobacco Control, Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Prevention, and Integrative Health and has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, Jacobs School of Engineering, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Moores Cancer Center, the Altman Clinicaland Translational Research Institute, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School. The School houses five self-supporting activities providing services to UCSD and external customers. Research in the School includes ~$125M total awarded grants and contracts. The School has and administers two PhD programs (Public Health and Biostatistics), a Master of Public Health professional degree program, an MS in Biostatistics, the only Health Sciences undergraduate program (BSPH), an MAS in Leadership of Healthcare.

The Health Services Research Center provides program evaluation and research services to a variety of health research projects. Under direct guidance of senior researcher, applies acquired skills and knowledge of applicable research discipline to support field research projects of small to medium size and intermediate scope and complexity, including but not limited to research in environmental, public health, social or biological science disciplines. The position will provide input and consultation to program evaluation activities and health outcomes measurement for San Diego County Adult Behavioral Health Services (SDABHS). Individual will interact with multiple mental health service programs and staff through training in the administration of outcome measures and providing technical support and maintenance of protocols. Will provide assistance to Study Director and staff to identify and recommend improvements in current outcomes and data gathering to the study. Individual is responsible for creating reports documenting program outcomes to be distributed for SDABHS. The position will also keep detailed and organized records of site contacts, meeting notes, inventory needs, and other project- related metrics as necessary. Assist with other projects/needs as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
• Working knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.
• Working knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and/or operations being conducted at field/remote sites.
• Working knowledge of local customs and operations at field/remote sites.
• Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.
• Demonstrates ability to work with a team, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work in a busy environment in a timely, organized and effective manner with close attention to detail.
• Demonstrates ability to work in ambiguous conditions.
• Proficient research and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated communication skills with project team members. Excellent professional interpersonal communication skills working with diverse populations in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of program evaluation and mental health outcome measures.
• Computer literacy and word processing skills with ability to use spreadsheet software.
• Demonstrated ability and experience writing reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated experience developing and performing administrative duties.
• Proficient in maintaining thorough files and confidential records according to research practices and protocols.
• Advanced knowledge of SPSS, STATA, SAS and/or other software packages for data analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree.
• In depth knowledge of County Mental Health outcomes evaluation systems and processes.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $56,700 - $97,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.16 - $46.70

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
