As a Program Specialist, GS-301-14, you will be responsible for:
- Serving as an agency expert and authoritative consultant, including technical assistance and resource management support for the White House Initiative for Native Americans and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCU) or several complex program areas, including Indian education and the federal trust responsibility.
- Providing authoritative advice and consultation to ED officials and stakeholders. Evaluating, recommending, and facilitating the implementation of new approaches and alternatives to address current or anticipated problems.
- Undertaking policy research and performing policy analysis on broad issues of keen interest to the supervisor involving areas of policy implication and impact.
- Identifying problems and preparing position papers to direct attention to the adequacy of program policy and recommending corrective alternatives and their relative feasibility and timing, where appropriate.
- Developing general plans to coordinate work to be undertaken.
- Ensuring consistency with policies and administration objectives, and monitors results and progress achieved.
- Coordinating with the Department's primary offices to ensure education policies are aligned with legislative, regulatory, program operations, and education activities.
