About the College/Unit/Department

Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant provides integrated research, education and extension programs that foster the responsible use of Georgia's coastal resources by individuals, decision-makers and management agencies.

Our program is managed through a federal-state partnership between the University of Georgia (UGA) and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Sea Grant College Program, a national network of 34 Sea Grant programs located in coastal and Great Lakes states and territories.

Position Summary

This position will provide day-to-day operational support for Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, and serve as executive assistant to the department leadership based in Athens. This position involves cooperation and coordination with a broad array of individuals who conduct business with the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, including faculty, students, visitors, vendors, and staff colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Professional administrative experience (e.g. managing invoices, keeping records, preparing reports, scheduling events, maintaining databases)
  • High level of professionalism and ability to interact with diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Precise attention to detail and ability to follow procedures meticulously
  • Professional administrative experience is needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing, public speaking, communication, inter-personal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a variety of professional, academic and community partners that align with the mission and values of the University

Assistance to Leadership
Various administrative tasks supporting the Athens team and leadership, such as:
  • Organizes Promotion and Tenure Appointment packages.
  • Organizes misc Sea Grant application packets.
  • Records meeting minutes, as and when needed.
  • Registrations and travel arrangements for Athens team/leadership
  • Daily administrative tasks in support of Athens team and leaderhsip.

Various entry level grants assistance tasks supporting the Administrative Financial Director:
  • Subaward payments
  • Fellowship/Stipend payments
  • Speedtype/combo code set up for external grants

Pcard holder assisting with registrations and misc purchasing for department:
  • UGAmart purchasing orders
  • Payment requests of invoices

  • Registration tasks in Modern Campus
