As a Program Technician II you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide sensitive and detailed program information and direction to the public, employees, other public jurisdictions, and clients regarding the review and processing of detailed forms, files, and other information associated with the Hazardous Waste Manifest
- Respond to telephone calls received in the TIC from the regulated community and the general public, determines the nature of the call, and initiates the appropriate action
- Provide information to callers regarding administrative and statutory requirements for obtaining permanent or temporary California Environmental Protection Agency Identification (EPA ID) numbers
- Process EPA ID number applications received from generators, transporters, and/or disposal facilities applying for issuance, reactivation, inactivation, or updating information on an EPA ID number
- Review and verify forms for completeness, accuracy, appropriateness, and ensure compliance with state law and DTSC policies
- Contact applicants to correct data omissions and/or inaccuracies on the forms
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suites skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Experience in a call center and/or with customer service, phone or in person support
- Highly organized
- Attention to detail
- Experience with web-based applications
- Experience with licensing or application processing
- Experience with writing professional correspondences (emails, memos, business letters, etc.)
- Clerical Skills/Support (Data entry, sorting and filing documents, processing mail, and maintaining office records)
- Experience explaining and/or applying laws, rules, and regulations
- Experience displaying an advanced ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
