The Safety, Prevention, and Early Intervention Branch (SEIB) is looking for a Associate Governmental Program Analyst to conduct project management associated with all prevention and early interventions and special projects that include but not limited to strategic planning, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), management of branch spending plans, work with tribe and advisory panels. The individual will support the Chief to ensure the efficient, economical and effective collaboration across the CFSD branches and department wide initiatives. The ideal candidate will be need to be energetic, flexible and ready to learn how to best support the SPEIB. The position will report to the Chief of the SPEIB. Currently, the position is primarily telework, but will require in office days in accordance with Department policy.

The SPEIB will monitor the duties/responsibilities of the position and evaluate whether an upgrade to the position is necessary to meet the business needs/expectations which may result in a future promotion in place opportunity if the position and selected candidate meets the requirements as outlined in CCR, title 2, section 242 also known as Rule 242.

Telework / Remote Work Information: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies. Advance in-person notice will be provided when possible. The employee would report to CDSS headquarters (744 P Street) in Sacramento if/when required to attend mandated in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office for required events are the responsibility of the employee. If telework/remote work ends, the position will have to report to CDSS headquarters in Sacramento.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer's markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

The Safety, Prevention and Early Intervention Branch is responsible for policy, program planning and the funding of organizations and counties that address the safety and well-being of children, youth, and families using prevention and early intervention strategies. The main policy focus areas are in emergency response to child abuse or neglect, the commercial sexual exploitation of a child or non-minor, substance abuse, and family maintenance.
