Job Summary:

The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH), and the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health have an opening for a part-time position (0.50 FTE) at the rank of Professional Research Assistant (PRA). The incumbent will be part of a multi-disciplinary team under the leadership of Dr. Katherine James working on multiple public health research projects including tobacco and marijuana use surveillance, climate factors and health outcomes (mental health, kidney disease, and birth outcomes), and environmental exposures. The ColoradoSPH strives to promote diversity and equity and to be a model of inclusive excellence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project logistics and organanization
  • Analytically integrate data derived from multiple sources
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
  • Prepare IRB materials
  • Recruit and/or interview subjects
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
  • Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor
  • Attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary
  • Summarize project results
  • Other duties as assigned


Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1-2 days per week on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health science, public health, or related field
  • 1 year of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in environmental health science, public health, or related field
  • Graduate-level coursework in statistical analysis, epidemiology, and/or research methods
  • Experience working with vulnerable, marginalized, or underprepresented communities
  • A passion for environmental justice
  • Introductory coursework in statistics and/or epidemiology
  • Introductiory coursework in research methods


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Detail-orietned and self-starting
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to learn new analytical skills
  • General knowledge of environmental health
  • General knowledge of exposure science
  • General knowledge of analytical methods
  • Ability to conduct basic statistical analysis

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$52,000 - 56,000 for the equivalent 1.0 FTE.

This position is being hired at a 0.5 FTE.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
