Come join Leidos on the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory Research Support Services (RSS) Team supporting the National Nuclear Security Agency, where you'll manage and provide leadership to our team of approximately 270 Leidos scientists, engineers, analysts, and subcontractors providing classified and unclassified technical, program and budget analysis, project control and administrative support services to NNSA .

We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager to fill a newly created role of Deputy Project Manager for NNSA support to augment the current management team of the RSS Contract. The roles/responsibilities of this newly created position are very broad and require an individual with extensive program/project management experience. The successful candidate will work with executive-level management in Federal government agencies, building and leading multi-organizational teams to provide a range of classified and unclassified support services in response to existing and emerging mission needs. Integral to success will be identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand and diversify the support services, and the ability to successfully balance the priorities of (1) NETL/NNSA; (2) Leidos as the Prime Contractor; and (3) individual Subcontract members of the Leidos-led Team.

Location: This is a full-time contractor-support position, with a primary duty station in the Albuquerque, NM or Washington, DC area. Only candidates in (or willing to relocate to) the Albuquerque, NM or Washington, DC area will be considered, as this position will be based at the customer sites in those areas. Telework up to 50% possible.

Travel: Approximately 25% travel required for in-person meetings in Albuquerque, NM, Washington, DC, Pittsburgh, PA, and Morgantown, WV. Periodic travel to other Federal government sites will be required.

As a core member of the Leidos RSS Program Management Team, the NNSA Deputy Project Manager will report to the RSS Program Manager, will collaborate with the NNSA Project Manager and other RSS Managers, and will support interactions with NNSA government leaders to successfully build trusted relationships with a very broad set of organizations, Executive/Senior-level management, and staff. Day to day interactions will include: (1) NNSA Leadership and Federal Program Managers; (2) NETL Executive Leadership and Contracting Officer; (3) RSS Program Manager/Deputy Program Manager; (4) NNSA Project Manager, (5) management/staff of the Leidos/Subcontractor Teams supporting NNSA; and (6) Leidos-RSS staff integral to the successful management and growth of this support, to include the RSS Business Office and Project Controller(s), Leidos Subcontract Administrators, RSS Travel (supporting Domestic and International travel), and Facility Security Officers (FSOs).

The Deputy Project Manager is responsible for day-to-day management of NNSA support, proactively communicating with clients, managing subcontractors, and Leidos RSS management and support staff. Integral to success will be the collaboration with the Leidos/Subcontractor Team to positively respond to NNSA requests for additional expertise/technical support as requested. A key role is the identification of skill sets needed to address NNSA mission needs. Where current capabilities and personnel are not available through Leidos and their research support team, this position will provide support for recruiting new staff in coordination with Leidos Talent Acquisition.

Required Education, Experience & Other:
  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering or technical degree with 12+ years of technical program/project management experience, with demonstrated experience building and managing multiple, geographically diverse teams, or a Master's degree with 10+ years of technical program/project management experience, with demonstrated experience building and managing multiple, geographically diverse teams
  • Ability to obtain and retain a DOE Q clearance. Strong preference given to candidates with current DOE Q clearance.
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Relevant experience working as a prime or major subcontractor on Federal government contracts including: program management; staff/subcontractor management; contracts/subcontracts; managing existing and securing new business and on-contract growth and financial management/reporting.
  • 10+ years managing a diverse, geographically dispersed team of 20+.
  • Strong skills in personnel and financial management, organization, communication, and conflict resolution with the ability to coordinate activities at multiple sites and resolve complex issues across multiple sites, both pre-planned and last minute.
  • Ability to plan, execute, manage and evaluate programs/projects from initiation through delivery and monitor for continuous improvement. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of a project.
  • Ability to develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate multiple activities of large groups of diverse technical experts.
  • Contribute to project teams, assigning and monitoring work of team members and providing guidance and leadership.
  • Analyze data and develop reporting specifications to support business requirements/strategies.
  • Identify, build, and nurture relationships with clients and subcontractors, and work with external partners to capture innovative and new business opportunities.
  • Function as an organizational subject matter expert.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in developing briefings for senior and executive management.
  • Experience managing customer or client expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current DOE Q clearance.
  • In-depth and recent experience in DOE/NNSA, DoD weapons programs, or Federal Agencies/Programs involved in technology development.
  • PMP Certification.

Pay Range: Pay Range $108,550.00 - $196,225.00
