Job Summary

The Medical Director, Psychiatrist for the Jail Consultation team will provide education and support to counties, sheriffs, contracted medical providers, and county correctional facilities on protocols and best practices for the provision of involuntary medications for mental health treatment. You will also provide psychiatric consultation and testimony to courts, assessments and consultation to treatment teams in multiple correctional settings serving individuals charged with offenses, the mentally ill, chemically dependent, developmentally disabled, and sex offender populations throughout the state of Minnesota.

You will be leading a multidisciplinary team with the expressed goal of providing specialized consultation, education in best practices, support of correctional and contracted personnel in the prescription and administration of psychotropic medications, survey and connect jails with local resources to partner in this endeavor and provide recommendations for ongoing needs for the service.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Board certified Psychiatrist
  • State of Minnesota medical license or ability to obtain Minnesota medical license

Experience with:
  • Adult psychiatry and inpatient psychiatric treatment
  • Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical staff supervision and management
  • Interest in Forensic Psychiatry
