The SPCC is looking for a FT Psychotherapist!!!

Schedule: Full Time, will include evenings and/or weekends per departmental need

Location: 3535 Market St.

Summary:

  • This position is housed in the Suicide Prevention Consultation Center (SPCC), which is being implemented by a large, federally funded center grant (Penn INSPIRE Center) in partnership with local emergency departments. The psychotherapist will provide evidence-based, time-efficient clinical interventions and case management via telehealth to adult patients during and following suicide-related emergency department visits. As part of this clinical intervention, the psychotherapist will assess for suicide risk and collaboratively develop a safety plan with the patient to identify potential warning signs of a suicidal crisis and points of potential intervention. During the month following discharge from the ED, the psychotherapist will conduct weekly structured outreach via telephone with the patient. These phone calls will include a brief risk assessment and mood check, review and revision of the safety plan developed during the initial telehealth visit, and provide support for outpatient treatment engagement, including facilitating connections to treatment and assessing barriers to engagement in care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide brief, evidence-based clinical intervention (Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention) to a diverse population of emergency department patients at risk for suicide remotely via telehealth

• Conduct weekly structured patient outreach by telephone in month following patient discharge from the emergency department, including a brief risk assessment, mood check, and review/revision of the safety plan

• Facilitate outpatient follow-up treatment for patients and support outpatient treatment engagement

• Communicate and collaborate with emergency department team regarding individual patients

• Participate in regularly scheduled caseload consultation with the suicide prevention expert

• Experience with evidence-based counseling techniques for suicidal patients is preferred

• Advanced training in trauma-informed care, racial trauma, culturally competent supervision, and/or culturally responsive interventions is highly desired

Credentials:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, active license to practice psychotherapy in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, necessary continuing education credits to maintain licensure in clinical social work, and credentials to practice psychotherapy. (Required)
  • State of PA background clearance (PATCH report) (Required)
  • If applicable, fingerprinting & FBI clearance if residing outside of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or if residency in Pennsylvania is less than two years. (Required)
  • Successful completion of the PEAC payer enrollment process by the UPHS Office of Medical Affairs. (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Master's Degree master's in social work (MSW) And Minimum 3000 hours of post-graduate individual psychotherapy experience (Required)
