Job Summary Department Purpose

UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the lifelong learning arm of the university. The division maintains the most diverse portfolio on the campus, with programs spanning pre-college, professional continuing education, workforce development, international academic and cultural exchange, and training services for corporate and agency partners. As a global leader in continuing education, CPE serves learners regionally, nationally and globally, and posts more than 55K enrollments annually making it the third largest UC Extension by enrollment. Beyond its community-facing role, CPE serves as the internal hub for online education in support of other academic units on the campus. CPE employs approximately 180 employees and draws on the expertise of approximately 1,700 instructors.

Job Summary

Under general supervision and in collaboration with the Program Director, act as primary representative for the coordination and delivery of approximately 10 to 35 county training contracts that fluctuate between $1.2 and 1.5 million annually depending on the scope of contracts. Develop professional relationships with contractors to ensure successful assessment, development and implementation of customized training. Maintain client satisfaction that fosters retention and expansion of annual contracts. Assist with recruitment of instructors and independently manage the contracts' scope of workload within as assigned by Program Director. Coordinate administrative and course work tasks with unit administrative supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Lift or transporting materials weighing up to 50 lbs.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Valid California driver's license to drive/travel to various locations throughout CA and nationally including overnight stays.
  • Work flexible schedule and occasional overtime including varied lunch hours and during peak periods.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:
  • Experience with project and contract/client management in at least one of the following: organizational development or public social services and experience planning/coordinating educational events such as conferences, workshops or symposiums.
  • Experience identifying and evaluating program needs to develop and implement new programs/services.
  • Experience working independently, organizing own work, establishing priorities, developing a course of action, monitoring the plan, reviewing and evaluating results.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite for Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), databases and business tracking systems.
  • General accounting experience to develop course and program budgets, monitor course costs and analyze financial reports.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
  • Analytical skills to define a problem, identify issues, analyze data and alternative solutions, weigh consequences of solutions and make recommendations and decisions.
  • Strong public relations and interpersonal communication skills required to maintain exceptional customer service levels, professionally engaging verbally, in writing, and during group interactions, while effectively interacting in person, via email, and over the phone with diverse stakeholders within a collaborative team setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:
  • Experience identifying, recruiting, hiring and negotiating compensation for instructors and speakers.
  • Experience using automated and computerized financial systems including DaFIS and Decision Support.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
  • Knowledge of University policies, procedures and forms related to purchasing, accounting, billing and travel reimbursement, and other business actions.
  • Knowledge evaluating programs by comparing program objectives to measurable program outcomes; and developing recommendations for senior management based upon program evaluation results.
  • Knowledge of human services programs and practices.
  • Knowledge of principles of adult learning and continuing education.
