ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Utility Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the maintenance and operation of the water distribution system and wastewater collection system.
  • Plans crews' daily assignments
  • Lead and train crews to perform wastewater system maintenance, cleaning and videoing (CCTV).
  • Train employees for CDL and proper equipment operation.
  • Review, interpret, and train crew members on maps, plans, and drawings.
  • Plan and lead installation of large volume commercial and residential meters.
  • Train and schedule crews to install, program and maintain AMR components.
  • Train and schedule crews to perform water service turn-off and turn-on duties for residential, commercial and industrial customers.
  • Lead and train crew members to properly investigate and mitigate issues reported on the water distribution and wastewater collections systems.
  • Create work orders, log time, material, equipment, and work performed in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Provide customer service while performing responsibilities.
  • Coordinate activities on the job site with engineers, construction inspectors, other City departments, and external customers.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Requires High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
  • Valid Texas Class A CDL required at time of hire, vactor operators only
  • TCEQ Class C Water license OR TCEQ Class III Wastewater Collection license is required at time of hire.
  • Dual Water/Wastewater Operator license must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
  • Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
