Timken Belts, located in Springfield, MO, is searching for a Quality Engineer.

This position is responsible for performing essential duties in controlling calibration of equipment, analyzing, and preparing samples for internal and external customers, controlling documents and auditing of finished product. Quality Engineer's will analyze and solve quality problems that result in increased efficiency and/or reduction in scrap.

Summary of Responsibility:
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Develop and implement quality control procedures, standards, and guidelines.
    • Conduct inspections, audits, and tests to assess product quality.
    • Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues promptly.
    • Monitor and analyze defect trends to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.
    • Participate in process validation and qualification activities.
    • Implement Six Sigma, Lean, or other quality methodologies to optimize processes.
    • Work closely with suppliers to improve incoming materials quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of quality-related data.
    • Prepare quality reports, including non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective action reports (CARs).
    • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and industry regulations.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks related to product quality and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Perform risk assessments and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to resolve quality issues.
    • Provide training to employees on quality processes and best practices.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Green Belt) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as statistical process control (SPC), 8D, root cause analysis, gage R&R, and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Microsoft applications, SAP, Ignition, and JMP preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, or a related industry preferred.
