Quality Improvement Specialist II - Safety (Experience with Quality Improvement Methodology such as PI, CQI, Six Sigma, Lean, TQM, or MFI required)

SCOPE: Coach and train internal and external team members in quality improvement methods. Assist in the design and execution of quality improvement projects. Serve as a consultant to faculty and staff to develop the charter; KDD; measures; PDSA cycles and data systems.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Customer Service
Provide expert customer service as a consultant to quality improvement teams utilizing CCHMC improvement science methodology and tools, reliability science, expert level facilitation, and change management methodologies including team building, leadership development, and will building. Understand the aims and scope of the work. Identify and implement QI data driven strategies to ensure team's success. Be present in areas supported. Provide project management for improvement teams, strategic planning sessions, and other organizational meetings.
• Planning and Coordination
Drive change by working with faculty and content experts to identify evidence based care. Work with leaders and management to plan and lead planning group meetings. Orient group to the process and their roles and responsibilities. Coordinate learning sessions with guidance from management and faculty. Develop learning session agendas. Support recruitment of participants by interacting with client and interested teams.
• Work Session
Provide planning and facilitation for meetings including large group learning sessions, conference calls, and expert meetings. Design work sessions with a specific focus or intent. Drive consensus to finalize the charter, measures and interventions to help teams obtain results. Keep meetings focused and moving, and ensure even participation. Build cohesiveness to achieve results and guide the teams to perform at the highest level possible. Provide expert level meeting facilitation for project teams, including agendas and outcomes. Facilitate the planning and execution of PDSAs. Facilitate the development of strategic improvement goals.
• Coaching and Support
Provide coaching and support for quality improvement teams and contribute to strategic planning. Coordinate and contribute to the development of learning objectives for all activities and provide final approval for all pre-work, learning session and Action Period call materials. Develop Learning Session evaluations. Teach and train at learning sessions.
• Teamwork
Develop connectedness with peers to develop a strong working team. Assist staff and students in successful understanding of QI methodology and completion of assigned projects. Provide coaching to develop strong team leaders. Provide coaching services to improvement science students to assist them in the learning and application of QI methods, models and theories.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in quality improvement
• Experience with PI, CQI, Six Sigma, Lean or TQM technique
Preferred:
Safety experience
