SKF Specialty Balls Colebrook , manufactures precision bearing balls for Aerospace and Automotive industries. SKF Specialty Balls works closely with customers to develop customer solutions for their applications. This SKF Site is located in Winsted, CT.

Job Summary:
This position is a key role within the Colebrook Aerospace factory leadership team. The Quality Manager is responsible for all quality aspects within the factory as well as supporting the development of processes and employees within the department. Activities include standards certifications, continuous improvement, measurement system analysis, layered process audits 5S and 8D evaluation and response.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and presents quality management assessment initiatives and scores.
  • Leading efforts to achieve work class performance.
  • Effectively communicates and works to resolve all quality issues through collaboration with internal and external customers.
  • Satisfies requirements related to calibration systems, clean room operations, and metrology.
  • Providing and maintaining appropriate documentation, quality manuals, and document controls.
  • Implements continuous improvement principles within the quality management system to reduce defects and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Continuously contributes to the development and improvement of existing processes and procedures.
  • As necessary ensuring adherence to factory, group, and corporate policies.
  • Develops and analyzes data to support the factory manager and communicates findings effectively across the organization.
  • Responsible for customer returns, complaints & satisfaction.
  • Responsible for ISO, AS & Nadcap compliance.
  • Responsible for managing the training, qualification and certification of inspection operators.
  • Works cross functionally to address quality performance issues to drive zero defect performance.
  • Responsible for managing all elements of the quality value chain in meeting Quality Management System objectives as required.
  • Manages internal, supplier, accreditation, and customer audits to optimize accuracy of the systems.
  • Satisfies quality activities at the factory level for procurement of raw materials, capital projects and production certification.
  • Collaborating with the Group Purchasing Team to procure inspection equipment as needed.
  • Communicate customer concerns based on effective analysis of nonconformance control and inventory control of effected materials.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring for personal development and success in of the team in achieving organizational goals.


Job Education, Experience, and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business management or equivalent.
  • A working knowledge of aerospace standards is preferred.
  • AS9100 quality management experience with system implementation desirable.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' of experience in quality management are required.
  • NDT, automated inspection related experience is a plus.
  • Technology implementation, project planning experience a plus.
  • Requires a high degree of foresight, objectivity, imagination, and analytical abilities.
  • Must be able to effectively interact at all levels within the Company with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of manufacturing, audit techniques, process qualification quality systems is required.
  • Must be computer savvy with a high proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, ERP systems (Infor / XA experience is a plus), and database reporting software (Power BI or similar).
