How You'll Perform the Role


This role ensures product meets all customer requirements through establishing, maintaining, and improving plant quality systems and processes. The quality manager ensures that quality complaints are tracked accurately and that controls are put in place to prevent future occurrences. This role also manages compliance to food safety, forestry, and quality programs to meet customer expectations.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
  • Development, implementation and administration of quality policies and procedures for all employees.
  • Provide new hire orientation and periodic training to all employees (food safety, quality, GMP...).
  • Manage customer complaints: investigate events, perform root cause-corrective action, make recommendations, and manage corrective and preventive actions to ensure they get implemented and sustained.
  • Provide monthly management quality reports, as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date inspection reports, files, quality programs and samples.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and report process data to internal and external customers.
  • Facilitate and assist support departments with technical expertise for process improvements and environmental compliance (ink making and graphics, as examples).
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and training within the plant as relates to quality and compliance.
  • Manage the internal nonconformance and hold process.
  • Responsible for all raw material and finished goods trial support.
  • Responsible for performance management of four direct reports (quality technicians).
  • Manage the plant lab, quality testing, and inspections.
  • Lead and manage food safety certification, serve as primary food safety practitioner, and lead HACCP team.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
  • Note: This role will initially require travel to other Hilex plants in the US to support food safety certification work. Travel could be up to 50% in the first year. After that, travel will be minimal.


What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of quality control management experience in a manufacturing environment, or other relevant work experience is required
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have firm understanding of test procedures, statistics, and process controls
  • Must have strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Strong, collaborative team player
