Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies.

What does the job involve?

Summary:This role is responsible for implementing systems to successfully obtain and maintain accreditations and approvals necessary to the business. This role will manage all aspects of the accreditation process from collaborating with stakeholders to address changing standards, performing internal and external audits to assess compliance, and managing the audits performed by customers and accrediting bodies. This role requires ownership of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) that make our business successful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Maintain the QMS current with changes to industry standards, customer requirements, and government regulations so the business is prepared for audits at any time.
  • Act as the conduit between outside and inside stakeholders. Assist internal stakeholders with modifications to procedures that ensure compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to continuously evolve the QMS.
  • Perform as the Lead Auditor and manage the internal audit program. Perform supplier audits. Supervise the ad-hoc internal audit team and supplier auditors.
  • Be the most knowledgeable person of our QMS when representing the company to customers, accrediting bodies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage the resolution of non-compliance and opportunities for improvement using various corrective and preventive action methodologies.
  • Where appropriate, take an active role in committees that develop industry standards.
  • Create and execute rolling, multi-year plans for compliance by scheduling, conducting, and resolving audits.
  • Regularly report the state of QMS: what is working and what needs improvement.
  • Understand the value of robust quality teams and be engaged in the success of the business.
  • Own the outcome.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, or equivalent years of experience and education (10 years' experience).
  • Must possess 7 + years of experience managing aerospace quality systems, special process accreditations, and customer approvals, including AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, Nadcap special processes, FAA 14 CFR Part 21, and various airframe and aircraft engine manufacturer standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of up-to-date inspection and control methods in the metal industry; an analytical mind with the ability to understand, modify, and interpret, complex technical information and to draw valid conclusions, extreme conscientiousness; ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in Quality Systems Administration; experience in Quality system auditing and customer audits.
  • Through knowledge of quality procedures.
  • Experience in data analysis (Cost of Quality, Nonconformance Trends, Scrap and Rework reports and charts, supplier performance evaluations and trends).

Required Skills:
  • Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to author reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Other Abilities: Knowledge of MAPICS manufacturing software, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
