Quality Technician, Global Service Manufacturing

The Quality Technician will support the production of Model S3XY Battery packs, large drive units and Tesla Energy products. This employee will verify that incoming, in-process, and fully assembled material meets Tesla specifications. They are responsible for conducting process audits, inspecting material, and coordinating MRB activities, including data input, reporting, and logistics. The Quality Technician will work closely with Quality Engineering to provide reports, charts, graphs etc to monitor and improve product quality. The successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. This individual must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with Line Supervisors, Operators, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform Sampling audits to verify Quality Key characteristics are maintained within specification, including inspection and verification of in-process, Tesla built material

• Assist Quality Engineer in containment activities and material sort activities by managing nonconforming material through the MRB process to ensure that nonconforming material is identified, appropriately dispositioned, tracked, and reported
• Provide mechanical measurement support to identify or solve potential material issues and conduct regular process audits to identifying non-conforming material and deviations from acceptable process
• Maintain quality inspection key points and propose necessary updates based on audit findings, product design
• Document audit results, report out on findings, and recommend improvements
• Work with process engineers to define & implement countermeasures to top causes of quality defects
• Coordinate calibration activities, working with outside vendor to ensure that all test and measurement equipment is calibrated prior to use on the manufacturing floor

Requirements

• 1 - 3+ years of experience in a Manufacturing
• Quality Control environment Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 or TS16924 a plus
• Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings
• Demonstrated proficiency in root cause analysis and implementation of countermeasures
• Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals (voltage, current, resistance)
• Ability to manipulate and interpret data, especially SPC charts, control charts, Pareto charts

• Detail oriented and extremely organized Proficient in MS Excel and Word; Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Expected Compensation

$25.88 - $38.46/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
