Position Summary: Performs various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
The Radiology Technologist assists in maintenance of the radiology departmental service and Quality Improvement Plan in accordance with standards established by the hospital, The Joint Commission, state, local and federal regulatory agencies; performs and ensures patient safety while operating radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations, portable x-ray and processes films; assists in the maintenance of the Diagnostic Imaging Policy and Procedure Manuals and refers to policy and procedure manuals for proper operation/quality control of equipment.Assists physician in detection and localization of the patient's anatomy using the appropriate technical factors, age specific positioning and shielding techniques appropriate for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel and participates in continuing education programs to enhance skills and maintain credentials
When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

Minimum EducationX High school diploma or equivalent x Preferred
X Completion of Radiologic Technology Program and possess current registration and licensure by the Medical Technological Board of Examiners of Arizona (CRT) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technology X Required
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
