Responsibilities:
  • Assists technical staff by preparing the exam room and supporting the Technologist as directed, ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and exercises discretion with controversial or sensitive matters, upholding UPMC's professional image.
  • Answers telephones, routes calls, and takes messages as appropriate to facilitate effective communication.
  • Collaborates effectively with patients, professional staff, and other medical center personnel to foster positive relationships.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Service Excellence by understanding and addressing the needs of patients, families, physicians, and co-workers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Performs image processing duties efficiently and accurately to support diagnostic operations.
  • Enters data into the Radiology Information System (RIS) as directed by the Technologist, ensuring precise record-keeping.
  • Assists in transferring and transporting patients, providing necessary support for their comfort and safety.
  • Acts as a liaison between Radiologists, Technologists, and patients, communicating waiting periods and test status; instructs patients on changing clothes for exams and maintains adequate stock of gowns and other items in dressing rooms.


Qualifications:

Required:
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred:
  • 1-year of patient care experience
  • Radiology experience
  • Excellent communication skills due to high degree of interaction with physicians and patients
  • Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
