Responsibilities:
  • Prepares the exam room and assists the Technologist as directed, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive or controversial topics, upholding patient privacy and trust.
  • Enhances UPMC's image by fostering professional relationships and promoting a positive atmosphere.
  • Manages telephone communications by answering calls, routing them appropriately, and taking messages when necessary.
  • Collaborates effectively with patients, medical staff, and other personnel to sustain strong working relationships and a cohesive environment.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Service Excellence by understanding and addressing the needs of patients, families, physicians, and co-workers with responsibility and accuracy.
  • Executes image processing tasks and ensures accurate data entry into the Radiology Information System (RIS) as per Technologist's instructions.
  • Assists in transferring and transporting patients, providing support throughout the process.
  • Acts as a liaison between Radiologists, Technologists, and patients, updating them on waiting times and test statuses. Provides guidance on changing clothes for exams and maintains supplies in dressing rooms.


Qualifications:

Required:
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred:
  • One year of patient care experience
  • Radiology experience
  • Excellent communication skills due to high degree of interaction with physicians and patients
  • Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
