R&D Design Engineer

Your role and responsibilities

Provide R&D/Engineering support for assigned product lines, with the intent to become R&D Lead and Subject Matter Expert. Design high and low volume products utilizing manufacturing methods including Casting, Metal Stamping, Machining, and Additive Manufacturing. Manage several product development activities including design, testing, certification, manufacturing vendor communications, etc. Perform dimensional tolerance analysis to ensure design functionality. Use analytical/problem solving skills to resolve design issues and product line challenges related to customer facing information. Prepare engineering documentation including drawings, BOM, material specifications, instruction sheets, quality control plans, etc. Provide project updates and deliver gate meeting presentations as needed, both formally and informally through proactive communications. Initiate patents and provide engineering support for intellectual property activities. Recognize opportunities and potential risks related to intellectual property.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar) required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing for large scale production, product testing, finite element analysis, stress analysis and design for manufacturing.
• Solid experience in prototype creation (from small-scale proof of concepts to production representative samples required for performance testing).
• Direct work experience with Microsoft Office applications and 3D modeling software; Creo is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in material selection for both new and existing product designs.
• Experience collaborating with cross functional teams such as manufacturing and product management.
