Responsibilities*

CVC 5 is a 14-bed intermediate care unit that provides care to Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Interventional Cardiology patients. The unit has a family centered approach surrounding education and resources and provides private rooms for all patients. Nurses provide care to patients with titratable drips, arterial lines and cardiac monitoring. The RN?s work closely with technicians (Assistive personnel), offering the best care possible to both patients and families.

We are pleased to announce that in the fall of 2025, U-M Health will be opening our newest hospital, the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion. CVC-5 Intermediate care unit will be located on the 9th floor in the Pavilion and join our (current) 4B surgical unit. The 9th floor will be a mixed acuity, 48-bed medical-surgical population, including Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interventional Cardiology, Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neurosurgical, and Neurology services. The multidisciplinary team shall include surgeons, speech and swallowing therapists, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapy, social work, discharge planners, dietitians, and nurses. The nurse in this role will utilize their expertise to provide supportive, direct care, meeting the physical, nutritional, emotional, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient and family. There is also an emphasis to ensure both comfort and confidence for self-care post discharge.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C .
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that have passed the NCLEX.

**GN applicants will be considered for this position. The selected Graduate Nurse candidate will have 45 days from date of hire to successfully pass the NCLEX for Michigan RN licensure.

NOTE: In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

  • 1 year of cardiovascular patient experience or relevant skills, including at least one of the following: Vascular Surgery/Medicine, Cath lab, Cardiac Medicine, Telemetry.

Shift: Day shift rotating to Night shift

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
