Penn Presbyterian Medical Center is looking for a per diem, Emergency Room Registrar

Summary:

The ED Registrar acts as the initial contact for patients and visitors to the Emergency Department. Registers patients in EPIC and/or EMTRAC systems. Securing signatures on consent, authorization and financial agreement forms. Validates patient insurance information and ensures that billing information for technical and professional billing is complete and accurate.

Responsibilities:

Emergency Department Registrars tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Patient Registration
  • Insurance verification
  • Coordinating and managing a positive customer experience
  • Guiding the patient through pre-encounter and pre-certification activities i.e. reservation process, financial counseling, insurance verification
  • Providing on-going support for the ER as it relates to hospital-based services.
  • Serving as the Managed Care liaison
  • Performing accurate, efficient and timely scheduling of all reservations into the EPIC information systems
  • Must be able to work with frequent interruptions, as well as enjoy interacting with patients and coworkers in a busy customer service environment.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Strong PC Skills
  • Customer service background
  • Maintains a professional appearance
  • Excellent verbal and written skills

Preferred:

  • Familiar with medical terminology
  • 1 year experience in a healthcare setting
  • College Degree
