Rehab Therapy Tech Specialist

Here is your opportunity to channel the full extent of your knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience on a daily basis. Inspire our patients to progress each day as you:

• Coordinates and schedules rehab techs.

• Supports daily therapy department processes and operations.

• Assists therapists with daily care and patient therapy as delegated.

― Assists patients with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, toileting and mobility as delegated by rehabilitation therapists.

― Communicates to rehabilitation therapists on patient performance, condition, and participation during delegated patient care activities.

― Defers any physician, case manager, patient, visitor, or patient/caregiver requests for information on patient condition, diagnosis, prognosis, progress, plan of care or discharge plan to rehabilitation therapists.

― Asks for assistance and guidance from rehabilitation therapists when patient need for information or intervention is beyond the scope of the rehabilitation technician's position and skill level.

• Communicates patient concern and/or change in condition to rehabilitation therapists.

• Prepares and transports patients according to the patient schedule.

• Enhances patient safety by providing assistance, care, and comfort.

• Suggests processes for improvement.

• Stays aware of data on patient satisfaction and safety.

• Knows how specific department performance impacts the overall hospital financials.

• Uses supplies responsibly.

• Makes recommendations to supervisor on departmental equipment needs.

• Assists with rehabilitation technology applications and modalities as delegated by therapist.

• Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.

― Meets position requirements and performs essential functions.

― Successfully completes all assigned training and annual skills competency as determined by the hospital based on new responsibilities, specialized equipment, high risk/problem prone/or low volume procedures including but not limited to waived testing as applicable, application of restraints, and emergency response techniques.

• Completes mandatory training and courses required by completion date.

• Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment immediately.

• Assumes five additional duties to support therapy department, as agreed upon by supervisor (e.g. patient scheduling, wheelchair management, dining champion, AM care champion, STOP program lead tech, etc.).

Credentials:

• CPR certification

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Minimum 6 years of experience or a specialist certification such as ATC, massage therapist, AS, BS, or MS degree

• Has completed elements required for clinical ladder Rehab Tech III or equivalent training in school or on-the-job training. See

• Rehab Tech clinical ladder and training manual

Machines, Equipment Used:

• General office equipment such as computer/laptop, telephone, copy/fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc.

• Microsoft Office software, to include Outlook, Word, and Excel

Physical Requirements:

• Visual acuity, speech recognition, speech clarity.

• Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds including medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements.

Skills and Abilities:

• Oral communication, written communication, active listening.

• Information ordering, deductive reasoning, social perceptiveness, time management, critical thinking.

• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.

• Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.

Environmental Conditions:

• Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure.

• Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.

• Handicapped accessible.

• May work under stressful circumstances at times.

Proficiency or Productivity Standards:

• Has regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and punctuality.

• Adheres to dress code including wearing ID badge.

• Adheres to Standards of Business Conduct.

• May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.

• May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.

• Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster.

• May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.

• May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
