Position Summary

Provides patient care in accordance with the laws and regulations relating to the practice of rehabilitation (occupational, physical, speech or recreation) therapy. Maintains equipment and supplies necessary for providing rehabilitation therapy services and assistance to the rehabilitation therapist.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Provides patient related tasks under the order, direction and immediate supervision of a licensed/certified rehabilitation therapist. The l therapist shall determine those patient related tasks that can be safely and effectively performed by the aide.
  • Assists the licensed/certified therapist in performing patient related tasks such as observation of the patient, transport of patients, physical support during gait or, transfer training, demonstration of proper exercise or activity technique, and non-patient related tasks such as housekeeping duties, clerical duties and similar functions.
  • Responsible for data management, including data input, maintenance of data base, and data reporting as required.
  • Interacts effectively both inter and intra-departmentally on a regular basis for planning and coordination Prepares treatment areas and equipment for patient treatments.
  • Maintains established levels of supplies including linens, patient educational materials, etc.
  • Participates in education programs and inservice meetings as required.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff. Fosters the development of teamwork within the department while meeting the needs of departments being served.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Maintains therapy equipment and inventory of departmental supplies.




Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • High School or Equivalent, some college preferred
  • 0-1year experience in an acute care setting as a rehabilitation therapy aide or equivalent


Required Courses/Training:
  • On the job training


Req. Certification/Licensure:
  • BLS - American Heart Association
