Description

Assists the Director in the coordination of the financial activities to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Serves as team lead assigned to a specific team for a department, college, or unit.
  1. Supervises a team conducting research financial activities, to include setting goals, performance appraisals, staff development, and cross-training.
  2. Oversees and reviews the billing setup and modification and manages the process of invoices/reports to sponsors and financial closeout of awards.
  3. Manages departmental outreach and customer service efforts including the timely response to questions and inquiries from the research community, seeking input from the Director as needed
  4. Assists with the development and implementation of internal operating procedures, coordinates the work activities within their assigned team, and provides work direction as needed.
  5. Serve as a campus resource to interpret complex Federal and State regulations, sponsor guidelines, and Institutional policy related to proposal and award management activities for faculty and the research community.
  6. Provide backup to team members and across teams, as needed, to meet overall daily operational needs.
  7. Review and analyze queries and reports for management review and to ensure financial reports and invoices are generated and prepared accurately and in a timely manner.
  8. Assists with external audits pertaining to the activities of Contracts and Grants.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors and 7 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
