Job Summary:

The Research Assistant in the College of Science & Technology's Biology division is responsible for research projects advancing genome editing tools in the zebrafish model system and canonical Wnt signaling. Manages the zebrafish and xenopus facilities including undergraduate student workers. Complies with laboratory safety/infection control policies and procedures. Generates, propagates and tests various transgenic lines. Assists in the daily use and maintenance of specialized equipment in the laboratory including spectrophotometers, micro-injection apparatuses, regular and confocal microscopes, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Biology and at least six months of related research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Excellent interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to learn new research techniques.
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, and communicate in writing as well as verbally.
  • Ability to maintain and organize records.
  • Ability to occasionally work on weekends and/or after hours.
