Description

The Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position with a focus on health equity research methods, methodologies, and field priorities. This role involves collaboration with Dean Thomas LaVeist, assisting in advancing his research agenda in this field. The appointee will be a part of the Tulane Institute for Health Equity, under the direction of Dean LaVeist, contributing to the development and implementation of research initiatives in this area. Duration: The position is appointed annually and subject to renewal based on performance and advancement towards research goals. Key Responsibilities • Assisting in the preparation and submission of research grants. • Conducting specialized research based on current research agenda. • Contributing to the preparation of research publications and books. • Designing and conducting data analysis. • Engaging with external organizations and subject matter experts to establish and maintain collaborative relationships. • Assisting in the planning and organization of events to further health equity collaborations.

Qualifications

  • PhD in public health or related fields such as sociology, demography, psychology, or related discipline.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health equity principles, particularly in relation to race and social class.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative research methodologies, including data collection and evaluation, survey research, and data analysis.
  • Strong manuscript and grant writing skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to listen to and communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a teamAbility to work and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks and health equity research.
  • Ability to present issues in compelling terms and to communicate complex data and concepts clearly and effectively.
