A Research Associate II position is available in the Department of Hematology under Dr. Don Diamond. The ideal candidate will have work experience or knowledge within virology and vaccine development fields. Virus infections of cell cultures will be a routine procedure, and occasional assistance in injections of attenuated poxviruses in tumor bearing congenic mice will be expected.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Conduct laboratory technical procedures in support of a cancer vaccine development project. The successful applicant will perform molecular biology, virology and cell biology experiments.

• Have hands-on job experience with PCR, nucleic acid and protein electrophoresis, Western Blot, bacterial culture, plasmid manipulations including vector assembly using online sequence analysis programs, and cell culture techniques requiring application of sterile technique with experience in eukaryotic cell culture.



Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree within molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, or other related fields. Masters degree preferred

• 2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 1+ year related experience with a Master's degree.

• Additional requirements include virology expertise including manipulation of attenuated poxviruses, recombinant virus derivation, amplification, expansion and purification.
