The Farris lab (http://labs.vtc.vt.edu/farris/) at Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI https://research.vtc.vt.edu/) focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying learning and memory. We are currently investigating area CA2 of the hippocampus, a subregion essential for social memory. Using a combination of mouse genetics to manipulate specific hippocampal cell-types and advanced, high-resolution imaging techniques, we hope to provide mechanistic insight on the behaviorally-induced synaptic modifications in CA2 that may be required for encoding social behavior.

The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in lab meetings, analyze data, and assist in the preparation of figures for peer-reviewed publication and presentations. The successful applicant will be expected to work both individually and as part of a team. This position is for a minimum of two years commitment.
