Who You'll Work With

You will work as a Research Coordinator on a temporary basis (1-year contract) in Boston as part of our global Life Sciences and Client Capabilities Network. This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days per week working in-person from McKinsey's Boston office.

Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities Network (CCN) deliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are driven by a culture of innovation.

Within CCN you will be working with the Life Sciences (LS) practice, which has grown to be the second largest industry group in the firm. We have knowledge professionals in major hubs in Waltham, New Jersey, London, Brussels, Poland, India, Japan, and China. In this role, you will have opportunities for high levels of interaction with consultants and the rest of the knowledge team. You will be the primary point of contact between many consultant teams and our global Life Sciences Intelligence team.

We believe the Life Sciences team has exciting years ahead. We plan to expand our service offering to internal and external clients, to meaningfully develop and advance our portfolio of proprietary analytical and knowledge assets, and to play a bigger role in externalizing our knowledge and broadening our networks.

What You'll Do

You will provide responsive, high-quality assistance through research request handling and project support.

You will be working with McKinsey colleagues to scope business questions and understand, disaggregate, and prioritize their information needs in client engagements. You will problem solve across various international, cross-functional knowledge & intelligence teams to determine the most appropriate solutions to key issues, effectively balancing quality, availability, timelines, and cost factors.

You will leverage proprietary and third-party data and tools (analytical, industry-specific, and function-specific) to perform primary research and required analyses with the highest rigor. You will also perform analytical analyses on various third-party and proprietary data, leveraging a variety of analytical approaches and tools (e.g., Excel, R, Generative AI tools). You will then communicate insights and deliver end products to consulting teams in a variety of formats, including memos, PowerPoint presentations and tables.

Qualifications
  • University degree in business, economics, or a STEM related field

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data manipulation

  • Understanding of general business concepts and terminology
  • Passion for, and some understanding of, the pharmaceutical and/or overall healthcare landscape, potentially including clinical experience
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Drive creatively to solve problems through intellectually challenging projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
