Position Summary:

The Tennessee Reading Research Center (TRRC) is conducting state-level evaluations of literacy initiatives as well as federally funded research to identify effective literacy instructional practices and improve the determination of students' literacy outcomes. We are seeking a research coordinator to support the development of literacy instructional materials and resources, the implementation of literacy research in school and community settings, the reliable collection of data, and the meta-analysis of research findings reported in scholarly literature. Current projects are conducted with K-12 students in general education and students experiencing various literacy difficulties. This position will work with the Project Manager(s) and Principal Investigator to coordinate research activities among team members and at the participating sites. The position will have knowledge of implementing experimental research in school settings, monitoring the fidelity of classroom implementation, and assessing students' literacy skills. In addition, the position will need to ensure team compliance with university, school district, and funding agency policies. This is a 100% grant / soft funded position.

Position Responsibilities:

Coordinating components of school-based research. This includes creating and organizing recruitment and consent materials, developing study materials for paper and digital delivery, conducting quality control of the materials, recording model lessons, monitoring treatment integrity, administering and scoring literacy assessments, training and supporting student staff on scoring tasks, and preparing status reports and study updates.

Coordinating components of archival data research. This includes gathering information on the variables, reliably extracting data from published reports, implementing study protocols, training and supporting student staff on the use of study protocols, and preparing status reports and study updates.

Coordinating components of state-level evaluations. This includes developing literacy resources for paper and digital delivery, recording model lessons, supporting digital applications, and preparing status reports and study updates.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of effective instruction for students with disabilities and multilingual learner

• Oral and written communication skills in Spanish, Mayan dialects, Arabic, French, or German

• Knowledge of University policies and procedure

Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field

• 2 years of experience in a preK-12 classroom setting or in researching preK-12 setting

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master's degree in education, special education, communication sciences and disorders, or a related field

• Preferred qualifications include experience developing literacy instructional materials and monitoring their implementation, expertise in scientifically based literacy research, advanced knowledge of measuring students' literacy abilities, and strong verbal communication and writing skills
