Job Summary:

Assists in the design, development, maintenance, and implementation of databases for a large research study. Writes code using software (e.g. R, Python, Stata) to clean, aggregate, and prepare data for analysis and reporting. Utilizes multiple quantitative and qualitative datasets from a variety of sources (structured interviews, diagnostic measures, record data). Programs data capture surveys, prepares complex variables, structures databases for analyses. Creates codebooks and data management protocols. Assists in obtaining data from partners and agencies

The Health Disparities & Public Policy program investigates health disparities in traditionally underserved populations. For the past 28 years, we have been conducting the Northwestern Juvenile Project, a longitudinal study of the mental health needs and outcomes of 1,829 youth involved with the justice system. Funded by a consortium of federal agencies and private foundations, we have been tracking and re-interviewing our participants since April 1996.

This position is full-time, hybrid. 3 days per week in-office (required), 2 days remote (if preferred). Our office is located on the Chicago Campus.

Specific Responsibilities :

Strategic Planning
  • Partners with clients to define requirements based on business objectives.
Administration
  • Develop standardized templates, policies, and procedures for internal and external reporting.
  • Designs and prepares documentation for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Development
  • Merges data from multiple sources in preparation for analysis.
Performance
  • Completes data cleaning and organizes data files for analysis.
  • Reviews data and identifies quality issues
Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
