Responsibilities

Create, construct and repair highly specialized scientific research equipment and facilities. Assist users in setting up and carrying out experiments. Instruct users in the operation of special equipment and NHMFL. Perform administrative functions in support of assigned responsibilities to include purchasing instrumentation and supplies. Assist Chief of User Support with providing software and data acquisition support of other NHMFL project teams. Perform complex experiments to facilitate development of new experimental capabilities including analyzing, modelling, and reporting of experimental data.

Interpret and implement policy relative to user utilization of instrumentation. Assist with policy development for overall user program.

Will maintain technical knowledge and expertise at the highest level and use the knowledge/expertise to identify short- and long-range instrumentation needs. Participate in development of new programs to meets user's needs as they evolve. Independently research and propose solutions that improve experimental capabilities to enhance the user experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and seven years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to seven years.)
